Oban is the self-proclaimed "Gateway to the Isles," with ferries departing for Mull, Iona, Coll, Tiree, and the Outer Hebrides. The horseshoe bay is dominated by McCaig's Tower, a Colosseum-like folly offering panoramic views across the islands. The town is renowned for its seafood, with fresh langoustines, scallops, and oysters served in excellent restaurants and from the harbour fishmongers. Oban Distillery produces whisky in the heart of town, while nearby Dunollie Castle and the Sea Life Sanctuary provide additional attractions.
